Thermal Analysis Services

Continuing market requirements for higher speeds of operation have resulted in the advent of systems that exhibit dramatic increases in power dissipation compared to previous systems. This is a key reason for performing a thorough thermal design for modern electronic systems.

Effective designs for chassis with increasing heat dissipation requirements can be accomplished by careful attention to flow path management, areas of flow restrictions, circuit card selection and air mover selection. Solving thermal management problems up front in the design phase can prevent expensive changes later on.

Hybricon has extensive capabilities for advanced thermal/airflow modeling and simulation using industry standard CFD tools. Our capabilities range from detailed device package modeling to full system modeling for air-cooled, conduction-cooled, or liquid-cooled applications.

What Are The Tools and What Do They Do?

Hybricon has the industry's leading thermal analysis tools:

  • MacroFlow Flow Network Modeling for chassis, sizing, and first order analysis
  • Flomerics Flotherm for performing system to device level thermal analysis
  • Cambridge Accusense multi-point temperature and airflow test equipment for overall and detailed testing

High Performance Applications Put a Premium on Thermal Performance

Today’s high performance systems require world class thermal capabilities.  Whether you have 200 Watt air cooled 6U boards, conduction cooled 100 Watt boards, or a liquid cooled chassis on a fighter jet, Hybricon has already done it   In applications ranging from air cooled to conduction cooled or liquid cooled, Hybricon is the vendor of choice for high power solutions.

We also use our advanced thermal analysis capabilities to help our customers to optimize their board designs.

Why simulate first?

Besides the obvious reason of quicker time to market, reduced (or eliminated) post-production changes, and a "right the first time" product, simulation also helps Hybricon to innovate during daily activities. With computational models in place, it becomes a simple exercise to optimize many aspects of a system's performance while the enclosure is still in a concept phase. Also, the visualization capabilities of the simulation packages offer engineers insights into a system's performance that is often times very difficult to measure or observe in practice.

Having this type of information and capabilities available make Hybricon an obvious choice for companies with innovative attitudes. This development process also allows Hybricon to bring their understanding to the engineering community in general.
